Sensory integration in psychomotricity

At the beginning of psychomotor therapy for sensory modulation disorders, it’s crucial to assess the sensory profile of the child to identify the affected areas: visual, tactile, vestibular, auditory, gustatory, proprioceptive, and/or olfactory senses. The goal of therapy is then to start from the child’s sensory level and gradually help them modify their information processing. If the child exhibits sensory hypersensitivity, the focus is on desensitization, whereas if they have hyposensitivity, the aim is to habituate to stimuli.
